After working as therapists for several years, both of us were in the midst of taking a year long continuing education course in 2000-2001. The two instructors of the course had received advanced degrees in Australia and told us that to really learn the techniques and advanced clinical reasoning, we should study in Australia. With that seed planted, we decided to go for it. Applying to the University of South Australia, then taking a year leave of absence from work in 2002, renting out our houses, and doing everything that was needed to move to another country was an undertaking but it was the beginning of a chapter to bring OutBack Physiotherapy Centre, Inc. into fruition.
Our business was created with several concepts in mind. We wanted to create a place where patients would receive one on one care and each patient would receive individualized treatment to meet their goals. We wanted a place where the staff could go the extra mile without having to go through layers of institutional red tape. We visualized a place where the physical therapists would have ample time to listen to their patients, get to know their patients and treat without the pressures of meeting "production." We opened our doors on October 10, 2003.
Over the years we have created such a place. The vast majority of our referrals come from other patients and by word of mouth. We have formed great relationships with referring physicians who have come to trust us and know that we provide quality care for their patients.
We are here for no other reason than to provide excellent care for our patients.
